WikiLeaks Has No FBI File

monday, october, 17, 2011

According to the no records response letter on the right, the organization known as WikiLeaks has no FBI file despite having leaked over 250,000 purloined State Department cables, 700 illicit dossiers on Gitmo detainees, and tens of thousands of records on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This means that the lead law enforcement agency in the United States has been completely frozen out of the investigation into largest compromise of intelligence information in the history of the United States and probably the world, or Record/Information Dissemination Section is lazy, incompetent, dishonest, or some combination of the last three. As shown by the links below, there were publicly accessible, responsive records right on the FBI’s website.

For example here is a 3/16/2011 Statement Before the House Judiciary Committee mentioning a FBI investigation into WikiLeaks.

Here is a 7/19/2011 press release announcing the arrest of 16 people for allegedly participating cyber attacks in support of WikiLeaks

Finally, here is a 4/21/2011 statement before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism  by Gordon M. Snow Assistant Director, Cyber Division

Clearly, the FBI has WikiLeaks related record. Now, why couldn’t the apparent goof troopers in RIDS find them? I have my theories.
