Obama: It’s OK, You Can Tell The Truth Now

Obama recently signed a paper stating that all American Service men and woman are no longer required to lie about their sexuality when in uniform.  Before, the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy required people in the US military to lie about their sexuality if they were gay or lesbian.  Obama has now signed a paper repealing the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” Policy.

Julian Assange and Wikileaks have brought these types of changes about in all areas of the world.  They have changed governments and they have held the hope that by exposing the truth, governments will be compelled to change their attitudes about lying to their citizens.

The “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy implemented by the US military is only one example of how the government lies and also how it promotes it’s citizens to lie as well.  When Wikileaks began exposing things about governments worldwide, we all have begun to see tiny changes to attitude, policy, and behavior from our officials – and this is a GOOD thing.

Even through these minute changes, there we find ourselves one closer step to positive change and towards transparency.  This repealing that Obama has supported is a message to all people – that it’s not okay to lie.  The government is attempting to endorse a more honest approach towards things and hopefully, it will stay that way.  With policy changes like this, we can hope that there will be more.

When a person in uniform must lie in order to serve their country – a deed that most feel is honorable – the lying gives them the notion that they are not serving their country, but rather dishonoring her by way of “omission.”  It can affect a person on the battlefield and it can affect the general moral of the people in any given nation.

Truth, will always prevail and it’s a good sign that some changes are being made in order to support Julian’s cause.  Julian wants truth, he wants transparency, and he wants freedom.  Support your government when they do things like Obama is doing.  Positive reinforcement means positive change in behavior.  Remember – the government is employed by you, and me.  We are not employed by them. Help bring about change – support Julian Assange and Wikileaks and support your children’s future: a future of freedom, honesty, and integrity!
