Messages of support and encouragement for Julian

Inspire a generation and just look where it gets you….

Julian Assange has been detained in the UK for over 600 days, despite not facing any charge in any country.

Over the next four weeks the world will be watching London as the Olympic Games are played out. The official slogan ‘Inspire A Generation’ encourages us to feel pride, patriotic loyalty and optimism that our future will be bright, yet Julian Assange has been holed up in the tiny quarters of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, with no access to fresh air, for over five weeks.

Julian is fighting for political asylum following persistent attacks on him and his work with WikiLeaks. Despite this and with his trade mark stoicism he continues working on our behalf, continues to inspire.

Make sure Julian knows you are standing in solidarity with him and send him a message of encouragement telling him why his work is important to you and what you are doing/going to do to support him.

Friends of WikiLeaks aim to gather as many messages of support as possible by Sunday 12th August (the date of the closing ceremony of the Olympics) when we will take them to the Ecuadorian Embassy to make sure Julian receives them.

Send your messages to [email protected] and we will post them here to make sure the world knows why Julian is a man we are all proud of. Messages will be posted regularly and  archived under ‘Messages of support’. Please do not send in messages that disclose your personal details, we cannot post them.

  1. Dear Julian,

I know you have the strength and will to endure this leg of what I can only describe as remarkable.

Like Mandela’s long walk to freedom. I hope you won’t have to wait 27 years however during the apartheid era there was no Internet then. Now good people across the globe are at work, planning, organising, informing and joining together. It’s your strength and will that inspires me to fight the injustice on your behalf while you stay within the Ecuadorian Embassy.

You show no fear or u-turn in changing the world forever even when the whole world is on your shoulders. You are not alone in that Embassy. I am with you every step of the way. So many are with you. Your courage is astounding.

I’m not going to pray for you…I am going to act.
I’m not going to become angry at those who continue to lie about secret grand dury’s…I’m going to persist in fighting with you.

Stay strong you’ve come this far Sir! In a blink of an eye we shall have you out there.

Thinking of you mate. Your a true Ozzie battler with a determination unlike any other that has graced this earth.

~ an admirer of yours ~

  3. Dear Julian,

I don’t think many people in the world comprehend the immense sacrifices you are making to make the world a better place. Your work exposes all the world’s wrongs to the court of public opinion.

Keep up the good work and keep the faith.

  9. Dearest Julian,

“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
    -Albert Einstein

Before I happened upon I was essentially blind to the world. That day changed my life. I had thought that minds like that were things of the past-of the greats like Aristotle and Horace -among others. I was proven wrong, and I am glad. I had hope that world we would leave our grandchildren would be better than the one we had been given.
“Men in their prime, if they have convictions are tasked to act on them.” I assume you recognize the author of that one.
I thank you for your courage. I am deeply ashamed of the way the world has treated you, and I assure you that the people do not all feel that way, there is over-whelming support and love for you and your work all over. Its inspiring to see. You may feel like a man without a country, but you are a man who has the world. You have a home in the people, you belong to us and we will stand by you. I hope that this brings you comfort in these hard times. You are not alone.
Most of all I want to thank you for having the strength and conviction to find truth, to look at it unflinchingly and have the courage to share it. A man such as you only comes along once in a great while. Stay strong and know that the world is a better place because of you and your work.
