Inspire a generation and just look where it gets you….
Julian Assange has been detained in the UK for over 600 days, despite not facing any charge in any country.
Over the next four weeks the world will be watching London as the Olympic Games are played out. The official slogan ‘Inspire A Generation’ encourages us to feel pride, patriotic loyalty and optimism that our future will be bright, yet Julian Assange has been holed up in the tiny quarters of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, with no access to fresh air, for over five weeks.
Julian is fighting for political asylum following persistent attacks on him and his work with WikiLeaks. Despite this and with his trade mark stoicism he continues working on our behalf, continues to inspire.
Make sure Julian knows you are standing in solidarity with him and send him a message of encouragement telling him why his work is important to you and what you are doing/going to do to support him.
Friends of WikiLeaks aim to gather as many messages of support as possible by Sunday 12th August (the date of the closing ceremony of the Olympics) when we will take them to the Ecuadorian Embassy to make sure Julian receives them.
Send your messages to [email protected] and we will post them here to make sure the world knows why Julian is a man we are all proud of. Messages will be posted regularly and archived under ‘Messages of support’. Please do not send in messages that disclose your personal details, we cannot post them.
